Harris Co. man fired for reporting sexual harassment, lawsuit says

HOUSTON - A Harris County man is suing his former employer after he was allegedly fired for complaining about sexual harassment, recent court documents say.

Turner Jones file suit against Diversicare Afton Oaks LLC in Harris County District Court on Feb. 1. Diversicare transferred the litigation to the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas on March 6.

The defendant hired Jones as a floor technician in May 2010.

According to the plaintiff, the harassment began when a female nurse "decided it was appropriate to come up behind him and slap him on his rear end."

"He asked her not to touch him yet she walked up behind him again and slapped him on his rear end," the suit says.

Jones adds that he sought another nurse's help in documenting the event.

Meanwhile, the complainant wrote his own statement as well as reported that he was being sexually harassed to the manager on duty on Oct. 28, 2012.

The suit says the plaintiff's supervisor told him the next day that he was "being taken off the schedule."

Diversicare terminated Jones two days later.

Consequently, he seeks unspecified monetary damages.

Attorney Craig R. Keener of Craig R. Keener PC in Houston is representing Jones.
