GALVESTON - The family of a woman killed last month in a two-vehicle accident in Galveston has filed a lawsuit.
The late Andrea Knight Robertson's relatives are suing Alysia Rachele Monroe, of Silsbee; Britt Colby Mars, of Kingwood; and Troy Construction LLC over the April 8 wreck.
Recent court papers filed May 28 in Galveston County District Court show the decedent, who was driving a 2004 Ford Focus, was traveling near the intersection of Avenue M and 13th Street when a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado belonging to Troy Construction allegedly slammed into her.
Monroe supposedly drove the Silverado with Mars, an employee of Troy Construction, as her passenger at a speed more than 80 mph through a residential neighborhood.
The collision killed Robertson, the suit says.
Authorities subsequently arrested Monroe, whom Mars gave permission to drive the truck, and charged her with involuntary manslaughter.
The original petition asserts that Monroe and Mars were involved in at least three other accidents prior to the one which is the focus of the litigation, stating the defendants did not stop and render aid in each.
It insists Robertson did nothing to contribute to the incident.
Her estate consequently seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.
Attorney Sean Patrick Tracey of the Tracey Law Firm in Houston is representing the plaintiffs, and Galveston County 56th District Court Judge Lonnie Cox is presiding over the case.
