GALVESTON - Har-Con Mechanical Contractors LLC is asking a local state district judge to remove a lawsuit against it to Harris County, recent court records show.
The business filed a motion to transfer into Harris County resident Teresa Floyd's suit last month, stating to Galveston County 56th District Court Judge Lonnie Cox that Galveston County "is not a proper county" to hear the litigation.
Floyd claims Justin Allen Transier, a Har-Con employee, hit her with a company-owned vehicle while she was driving in Houston earlier this year.
Transier joins his employer as a co-defendant as he is faulted for violating traffic rules and regulations.
The suit blames Har-Con for negligently entrusting the aforementioned vehicle to Transier.
Meanwhile, the company formally denies Floyd's allegations.
It asserts that Galveston County should not handle the suit as it does not do business in the county and the wreck in question did not take place there.
Whether Transier lives in Galveston County is unknown, the four-page motion says.
Har-Con correctly identified itself in the document.
