Front desk clerk sues former employer for minimum wages

SHERMAN - A front desk clerk has filed a lawsuit against her former employer claiming that she was not paid the federal mandated minimum wage or paid overtime wages.

Brandy Finch filed suit against Shree Lakshmi Corp. on Aug. 26 in the Eastern District of Texas, Sherman Division.

Finch worked for the defendant from Jan. 2013 through April 2013 as a front desk clerk. She states that during one or more weeks of her employment with the defendant, she worked in excess of 40 hours but was not paid overtime wages.

Finch also states that during one or more weeks of employment, she did not receive the applicable federal minimum wage for all hours worked during the week.

The defendant is accused of violating the Fair Labor Standards Act, which prohibits the denial of overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per week.

The plaintiff is seeking an award of damages for liquidated damages, minimum wages, attorney’s fees, interest and court costs.

Finch is represented by Charles L. Scalise and Daniel B. Ross of Ross Law Group in Austin. A jury trial is requested.

U.S. District Judge Ron Clark is assigned to the case.
