Driver sued for allegedly running red light, seriously injuring other driver

A Cedar Creek man is suing after he was seriously injured in a crash after a driver ran a red light. 

Victor Barahona filed a lawsuit Sept. 16 against Robert Leon Phillips in the District Court of Jefferson County, citing negligence, negligence per se and gross negligence.

The complaint states that on Feb. 6, Barahona was traveling eastbound on Highway 71 in Bastrop. According to the complaint, as Barahona was approaching Highway 71 and FM 20, a gray Ford Explorer driven by Phillips ran a red light at the intersection and collided with Barahona's vehicle, causing Barahona to suffer significant injuries to his spine.

Barahona is seeking damages in excess of $200,000. He is being represented in the case by Austin attorneys Jeff M. Meyerson and Mark R. Mclean of The Meyerson Law Firm PC.
