Ford Motor Co. is facing a lawsuit over claims it did not honor a vehicle warranty.

Robert Hughes filed suit Oct. 21 in District Court of Jefferson County 58th judicial district against Ford Motor Co. and Philpott Motors Inc., citing the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices-Consumer Protection Act.

Hughes says he purchased a 2008 Ford F-450 from Philpott Motors. On March 19, 2012, Hughes experienced problems with the vehicle and Philpott Motors informed him the fuel system needed repairs totaling $8,057, according to the complaint.

Hughes contends on June 13, 2013, Ford agreed to honor the vehicle's warranty and pay for the fuel system repairs. The complaint states the plaintiff contacted Philpott Motors to repair the vehicle and was informed that the warranty was denied by Ford.

Hughes is seeking an undisclosed amount in damages. He is being represented by Dallas attorney Craig M. Patrick of Patrick Law Firm PC.
