Remedial Construction Services sued by former employee

A former employee is suing over claims she was discharged after reporting an incident of sexual harassment.

Samantha Burrell filed a lawsuit against Remedial Construction Services LP on Nov. 25 in Jefferson County District Court, citing retaliation, constructive discharge and mental anguish.

Burrell claims she was employed for the defendant beginning in 2007. The complaint states that on Oct. 30, 2012, one of the defendant's managers sexually harassed the plaintiff while she was alone in her office.

After Burrell reported the incident, her hours were drastically reduced and she was told her services may not be needed, according to the complaint.

The plaintiff contends the defendant retaliated against her by reducing her work hours after reporting the sexual harassment.

Burrell is seeking an undisclosed amount in damages including lost wages, diminished wages and fees.

She is being represented in the case by Bruce Gregory of the Gregory Law Firm in Port Neches.

The case has been assigned to Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court.
