Enterprise Rent-A-Car demands nearly $5K from Dickinson man

GALVESTON - Enterprise Rent-A-Car has filed a lawsuit in an effort to recoup nearly $5,000 from a customer.

Court papers filed Dec. 18 in Galveston County District Court explain that Dickinson local William Summers owes the plaintiff $4,949.97 after he incurred damages to a vehicle he rented from it nearly two years ago.

According to the suit, Summers exhibited negligence when operating said vehicle on Dec. 21, 2011.

The subject event resulted in the debt in question which Enterprise claims the defendant has not paid.

"Demands upon the defendant William Summers have been made to make payment, but those demands have not been met," the original petition says.

"No payments have been made by the defendant William Summers which would mitigate and/or reduce its outstanding loss."

Enterprise insists it timely presented the claim to the respondent.

Attorney Barata R. Hollis of HBH Law Offices PLLC in Frisco is representing the complainant, and Galveston County 405th District Court Judge Michelle Slaughter is presiding over the litigation.
