Lawsuit filed in accident between Seabrook residents

GALVESTON - An apparent auto accident between Seabrook locals is the focus of a lawsuit filed in Galveston County District Court on Jan. 6.

Recent court papers show that Joanne and Renee Surita blame Sue Nichols for the Jan. 18, 2012, accident.

The plaintiffs were traveling in the 700 block of Highway 146 in Kemah and came to a stop behind another vehicle because of heavy traffic.

During said stop, according to the original petition, Nichols struck the claimants' vehicle in the rear and sent it into another one.

Nichols is faulted for:

  • Failing to keep a proper lookout;

  • Speeding;

  • Failing to apply the brakes; and

  • Reckless driving.

Consequently, the complainants seek unspecified monetary damages.

They are represented by attorney Jeffrey N. Todd of The Law Firm of Alton C. Todd in Friendswood.

The case has been assigned to Galveston County 56th District Court Judge Lonnie Cox.

Case No. 14-CV-0013
