City of Beaumont sued for breach of contract

An engineer from Jefferson County is suing the city of Beaumont, claiming breach of contract.

Bob Shaw, doing business as Bob Shaw Consulting Engineers, filed a lawsuit Jan. 16 in the Jefferson County District Court against the city of Beaumont, citing breach of contract.

Shaw alleges in the suit that on June 6 he entered into an agreement with the defendant to provide engineering services for the development of the Magnolia Project, located on Magnolia Street from Delaware Street to East Lucas Drive.

The defendant made significant changes to the original contract, which added an additional charge of $172,713.90 to complete. The plaintiff claims he tried to get payment for the additional work from the defendant, but they would not pay him the balance due.

Shaw is seeking damages, interest, attorney's fees and court costs.

He is being represented in the case by Jefferson County attorney Scott O. Renick of the Renick Law Firm PLLC.
