Galveston County residents are being sued after they allegedly refused to pay for contracted work.

John Morales III, doing business as Coastal Flooring & Home Renovations, filed a lawsuit April 28 in the Galveston County Court against Richard Scott Rutter and Robin Rutter, citing breach of contract and quantum meruit.

The complaint states the defendants entered into two written contracts with Costal Flooring to provide labor and materials to renovate the kitchen on Fra Mauro Drive in League City in April 2013. The defendants accepted in writing Coastal Flooring’s estimates and paid two deposits, according to the complaint.

Coastal Flooring claims it completed much of the work by fabricating items off site, but during final installation the defendants stated they would not pay for Coastal Flooring’s work.

The plaintiff repeatedly demanded payment and on Jan. 10 sent a written demand for payment of $20,014.02, according to the complaint.

The plaintiff is seeking $20,014.02, plus costs.

He is being represented in the case by Robert E. Booth of Mills Shirley LLP.
