Man sues Burlington Coat Factory after sustaining eye injury

A lawsuit was filed by an Orange County resident alleging he sustained an eye injury while attempting to wear a shirt. 

Robert Johnson filed a lawsuit April 29 in the Jefferson County Court against Burlington Coat Factory Direct Corp. and Burlington Coat Factory of Texas LP, citing negligence, gross negligence, malice, strict liability and breach of warranty.

The complaint states Johnson purchased articles of clothing from the defendant's store located at 3630 Eastex Freeway, Beaumont on May 4, 2012. After purchasing a shirt, the plaintiff was attempting to put the shirt on when the security sensor poked him in his eye, causing injuries, according to the complaint.

The plaintiff is seeking actual damages, exemplary damages, interest and costs.

Johnson is being represented in the case by Gilbert T. Adams III of Gilbert Adams Law Office.
