Family Dollar Stores sued after customer trips over equipment left in aisle

A Galveston County woman is suing over claims she was injured on the premises of a Family Dollar Store.

Revender Dotson filed a lawsuit May 5 in the Galveston County Court against Family Dollar Stores of Texas LLC, citing negligence. 

According to the complaint, Dotson entered the Family Dollar Store on Texas Avenue in Texas City on May 16, 2012, when she tripped over shelving equipment left in the middle of an aisle and sustained injuries to her back and hip.

Family Dollar is accused of negligence and failing to post warnings of the dangers associated with remodeling happening in the store.

Dotson is seeking more than $100,000 in damages.

She is being represented in the case by attorney Sherry Scott Chandler of The Chandler Law Firm L.L.P.
