Portnerbond e1349383603939

A Jefferson County woman is suing an estate, alleging the deceased committed numerous acts of negligence.

Catherine Kayla Millican filed a lawsuit May 6 in the Jefferson County Court against Jason Paul Richard, deceased, citing negligence and negligence per se.

The complaint states Millican worked for Richard and went to the place of business June 19. The plaintiff alleges while she was there, Richard committed numerous wrongful acts, including pointed a handgun at her, threatened to kill her, attempted to assault her with a deadly weapon and attempted sexual assault. The police ultimately arrived after the plaintiff escaped from the situation twice, according to the complaint.

The plaintiff states the defendant committed negligence, including but not limited to, failing to take his medication to control mental problems and for failing to monitor his mental health.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional minimum. Millican is being represented in the case by J. Trenton Bond and Chris M. Portner of Portner Bond PLLC.
