A hair stylist is suing her former company and manager, claiming she was fired based on false accusations.

Masoumeh Nassira filed suit May 27 in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas Sherman Division against JCCJ Enterprises LLC, doing business as Fantastic Sams, and James Heaukulani.

According to the complaint, Nassira began working for the defendants as a hair stylist in 2002. In 2010, defendant Heaukulani purchased the facility where Nassira worked and treated her different from other employees, the suit alleges. Among the plaintiff's claims are that Heaukulani constantly questioned and harassed her about her religious beliefs, blamed the plaintiff for problems that arose in the shop and refused to accommodate her physical impairment despite having a doctor's recommendation.

On Nov. 20, 2012, after returning from an approved trip overseas to visit relatives, Nassira was fired from her position for allegedly creating a fearful workplace for her coworkers, which Nassira denies.

The defendants are accused of spreading defamatory remarks about the plaintiff and creating a hostile work environment.

Nassira is seeking back pay and lost benefits, plus damages in an amount to be determined by the court. She is represented by attorney Karen D. McCloud.
