A Galveston County woman is suing over claims her family was unjustly treated by aggressive officers.

Kelly Tiras, Stedman Wilkins, Dawna Valentine, Stephon Valentine and three minors, filed a lawsuit May 29 in the Southern District Court of Texas Galveston Division against Bailey Properties LLC, Windsor Estates I LLC or Windsor Estates II LLC, Genesis Marie Hunt and Courtesy Officer Mike Berry.

According to the complaint, two families were swimming in the pool by the leasing office of the Windsor Estates apartment complex in Texas City on May 30, 2012, when officers, including Berry, arrived and belligerently instructed those not wearing pool bands to exit the pool.

The plaintiffs say when they attempted to exit the pool, the officers were aggressive, even pointing a taser gun at a girl holding two infants.

According to the lawsuit, the officers fabricated charges of aggressive behavior and allowed the other family, a caucasian one, to remain in the pool.

The plaintiffs are seeking damages and court costs. They are appearing pro se.
