Collision on U.S. Highway 69 results in lawsuit

A Jefferson County woman is suing after being injured in a car crash.

Tyneka Thomas filed suit May 30 in the Jefferson County District Court against Robert Choate. 

According to the complaint, on Oct. 12, Thomas was driving on U.S. Highway 69 in Jefferson County. Suddenly and without warning, Choate's vehicle collided with the plaintiff's, causing severe injuries and damage, the suit states.

The defendant is accused of operating a vehicle at a high rate of speed, failing to control the vehicle, failing to timely apply the brakes, failing to keep a proper look out, failing to take proper evasive action and failing to control speed.

Thomas is seeking damages in excess of $100,000.
