An Angelina County man is suing over claims he sustained injuries after an accident on a sea vessel and is seeking $2.5 million from his employer.

Scott Dickinson filed a lawsuit June 11 in the Jefferson County District Court against RLB Contracting Inc., citing negligence.

Dickinson claims he sustained injuries while was working on the defendant's vessel in May 2013.

According to the suit, Dickinson was sent below deck to clear a pump, which required him to loosen a butterfly nut with a sledgehammer. The suit alleges the butterfly nut was stripped, causing the sledge hammer to encounter very little resistance and strike Dickinson's boot, resulting in Dickinson falling backwards 12 feet and getting knocked unconscious.

Dickinson claims he has suffered back and neck pain as a result of the accident, suffering medical expenses and loss of wages.

The suit alleges the defendant refuses to pay any medical expenses and its personnel interfered with Dickinson's medical treatment and refused to investigate or acknowledge he was injured.

Dickinson is seeking damages in the amount of $2.5 million, interest and court costs.

The plaintiff is being represented in the case by Houston attorney Anthony G. Buzbee of The Buzbee Law Firm.
