GRETNA – A local business owner is being sued by a local attorney who won a judgment against him after he allegedly made defamatory statements about him.

Regel L. Bisso filed suit against Girod H. Jackson III in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 6.

Bisso asserts on July 25, 2013 Jackson was interviewed by WWL-TV Channel 4 concerning a lawsuit filed Bisso on behalf of his clients against Jackson’s company.

The plaintiff claims the defendant falsely accused him of being unethical, which was harmful to his personal and professional reputation as an attorney. Bisso contends he has received substantial injury due to Jackson’s statements.

The defendant is accused of defamation.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for mental anguish, loss of income and loss of reputation and character.

Bisso is represented by Robert G. Miller Jr. of Metairie-based Bisso & Miller LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Donald A. Rowan Jr.

Case no. 739-219.
