A man says he incurred medical costs when a driver hit him in the middle of a fast food restaurant's parking lot.
Anthony Glenn Richard filed a lawsuit July 31 in the Jefferson County District Court against Jessie Edwards.
In his complaint, Richard alleges he was sitting in his vehicle in the parking lot of Popeye's Chicken on Aug. 12, 2012, when Edwards struck his automobile.
Because of the collision, Richard incurred medical costs, experienced physical pain and suffering and endured physical impairment, according to the complaint. He also suffered mental anguish, the suit states.
Richard blames Edwards for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to maintain a safe distance between his vehicle and Richard's, failed to timely apply his brakes, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to bring his vehicle to a stop and drove carelessly.
Richard seeks actual damages within the jurisdictional limits of the court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.
He is being represented by attorney Ryan Douglas White of Loncar and Associates in Beaumont.
