Two Galveston County residents are suing a motorist, alleging negligence in an automobile accident.

D'Anastacia White and Kion Williams filed a lawsuit June 25 in Galveston County District Court against Edward Charles Jones, of Galveston, alleging negligence in causing a car collision with the plaintiffs' vehicle.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 14, 2014, Jones failed to maintain reasonable speed and distance, causing a rear-end collision with the plaintiffs' vehicle on state Highway 87 in Galveston County. The suit says the defendant's negligence consisted of failure to keep prudent lookout, failure to maintain a safe rate of speed, failure to maintain a safe distance and driver inattention.

White and Williams seek damages up to $100,000 as well as court costs and attorney fees, plus a jury trial. They are represented by attorneys Husein Hadi and Jamil Thomas of the Hadi Law Firm in Houston.

Galveston County District Court case number 15-CV-0644.
