A Jefferson County municipality is suing a pallet shippers manufacturer over claims it failed to pay rent.

The city of Port Arthur filed a complaint Sept. 4 in Jefferson County District Court against Climate Controlled Containers Manufacturing LLC, alleging breach of contract.

On June 14, 2012, the complaint states, the city entered into a commercial lease agreement with the defendant with a term period of five years beginning July 2, 2012, and ending July 2, 2017.

The complaint states that in May 2014, the defendant vacated the premises without providing proper notification to the city, and also consistently failed to make monthly rental payments during its occupancy of the premises, for a total amount of approximately $31,000 owed to the city.

The city seeks actual damages, plus attorney fees and court costs. The city is represented by Valecia R. Tizeno, city attorney of Port Arthur.
