A Lumberton woman is suing a Beaumont moving company and one of its drivers, alleging negligence for injuries she says she sustained in a vehicle collision.
Tisha Hampshire filed a lawsuit Sept. 28 in Jefferson County District Court against Southeast Texas Portable Moving and Storage, and Joaquin Jose Devarona of Sour Lake, alleging negligence.
On July 14, 2014, the complaint states, Hampshire was a passenger in a 1999 GMC Sierra K1500 driven by Dillon Gardiner, when Devarona, driving a vehicle owned by Southeast Texas Portable Moving and Storage, violently collided with Hampshire's vehicle.
The suit says the defendants were negligent in failing to keep proper lookout, speeding, failing to maintain proper control, failing to give half the roadway and failing to keep a safe distance, among other negligent acts or omissions. As a result, the suit says, the plaintiff sustained personal bodily injuries, physical pain and mental anguish, impairment, loss of consortium and has incurred medical expenses.
Hampshire seeks monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, plus interests and court costs. She is represented by attorney Justin G. Sanderson of Sanderson Law Firm in Beaumont.
