Contract

A La Marque healthcare center is suing a Brownwood man, alleging he owes a debt he for services it provided his now-deceased wife.

SCTW Healthcare Center, doing business as Bayou Pines Care Center, filed a lawsuit Oct. 8 in Galveston County District Court against Jerry Don Meador, alleging breach of contract.

On April 28, 2014, the complaint states, Jerry Meador's wife, Sandra Meador, became a resident at Bayou Pines Care Center, at which time the parties executed a financial agreement whereby Jerry Meador would be responsible for the payment of his wife's expenses during her stay at the nursing home.

Sandra Meador died Feb. 12, 2015, at which time she owed the home approximately $43,000 in unpaid room and board, therapy services, and other goods and services provided to her, the suit says.

The complaint alleges the plaintiff made several demands to Jerry Meador to pay the charges owed, but he stopped responding after his wife died.

Bayou Pines Care Center seeks to recover the amount owed, interests, attorney fees and court costs. It is represented by attorney Charles Wist of Houston.
