Landlord seeks to force tenant out of commercial property

GALVESTON -- A landlord is suing a tenant, seeking to regain possession of commercial property in La Marque.

Ortholithi Springs LLC, Poros Inc., doing business as Ocean Cabaret, Dimitrios Manetas and Stamatina Manetas filed suit Oct. 13 Galveston County District Court against International Management Corporation, Norman Simmons and Danzel Simmons, alleging unpaid rent.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 8, after several months of unpaid rent, the plaintiffs took possession of the property it had leased to the defendants on state Highway 45 in La Marque and placed padlocks on the doors. Subsequently, the defendants broke the locks and unlawfully re-entered the property, the suit says.

The plaintiffs seeks a court order removing the defendants from the property, plus $49,000 in unpaid rent, attorney fees and costs of litigation. They are represented by attorneys Albert T. Van Huff, Stephanie Donaho and Amy Anderson of Monshaugen & Van Huff in Houston.
