Beaumont woman sues BSI Financial Services, alleging fraud, deceptive practices

Loan

A Beaumont woman is suing a loan services company, alleging deceptive trade practices regarding a loan on her property.

Shonta M. Hoard filed a lawsuit July 6 in Jefferson County District Court against BSI Financial Services, as servicer for DRRF II SPE, its successors and assigns movant, alleging fraud and deceptive trade practices.

The complaint states Hoard fell behind on loan payments on her property at 8060 Helbig Road, Beaumont, due to economic difficulties, so she contacted BSI about a loan modification program. While processing the modification, the loan lender would not receive her payments, causing her to fall further behind on the payments, the suit says.

The suit alleges the lender then sold the loan to another servicer and, because of the continuous change of ownership, Hoard did not know who held the title to her property.

She contacted BSI to submit the modification several times, but the complaint alleges her efforts were to no avail.

Hoard had to file bankruptcy and make two payments, but she could not keep that agreement, so her property was scheduled for foreclosure July 7, the suit says.

Hoard seeks monetary damages of financial losses and exemplary damages. She is representing herself.

Jefferson County District Court case number E-197301.
