Shopper alleges HEB Grocery's negligence led to slip on floor

A Beaumont shopper is suing a local grocer, alleging negligence after she says she slipped on butter while shopping, resulting in injuries.

Lavella Young filed a lawsuit Oct. 23 in Jefferson County Circuit Court against HEB Grocery Company, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 23, 2014, Young slipped and fell on butter that was left on the floor in an aisle at the HEB Pantry Foods in Beaumont. The plaintiff alleges she sustained injuries after the defendant failed to maintain its property and created a dangerous condition.

Young seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus fees and costs of litigation. She is represented by attorney Dru Montgomery of The Heartfield Law Firm in Beaumont.
