A Jefferson County woman is suing a Harris County motorist over injuries she says she sustained during a vehicle collision.

Rebecca Menard filed a lawsuit Oct. 29 in Jefferson County District Court against Milo Garcia, alleging negligence.

On Oct. 7, the suit states, Menard was driving eastbound in the 2200 block of Merriman in Port Neches, when Garcia, driving northbound in the 600 block of Magnolia Avenue, failed to yield at a red light, entered the intersection and struck Menard's vehicle and another motorist's vehicle.

The suit alleges Garcia was negligent in failing to keep proper lookout, failing to yield the right-of-way, being inattentive and other negligent acts or omissions.

As a result, the lawsuit states, Menard sustained injuries to her neck and body in general, for which she's had to seek medical treatment.

The suit says the plaintiff also has sustained physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, impairment and disability, and loss of enjoyment of life.

Menard seeks monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million. She is represented by attorneys Clay Dugas and Jane S. Leger of Dugas Leger Law Firm in Beaumont.

Jefferson County District Court case number D-197769.
