Jefferson County man accuses Dane's Automotive of deceptive trade practices

Autorepair

A Jefferson County man is suing a Beaumont automotive shop, alleging it did not repair his truck after two attempts.

Norman Carter filed a lawsuit Nov. 6 in Jefferson County District Court against W. J. Slampa Enterprises, doing business as Dane's Automotive, alleging violations to the Deceptive Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, on May 8, 2014, Carter took his 2003 Ford F250 Super Duty pickup to Dane's Automotive to be repaired. However, the suit says, the truck remained unrepaired, even after Carter took it to the shop a second time May 22, 2014, and paid the defendant $4,500.

The lawsuit says Carter later took the truck to another repair center, which cost him an additional $3,300. The suit alleges the truck sustained further damages from repairs attempted at the defendant's facility.

Carter seeks damages up to three times the amount of his economic damages, plus interests, attorney fees and court costs. He is represented by attorney Brandon P. Monk of The Monk Law Firm in Port Arthur.

Jefferson County District Court case number D-197784.
