HOUSTON -- An employee is suing a Kingswood oil drilling company, alleging lack of overtime pay for work weeks totaling more than 40 hours, per the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Joe Meyer, individually and for all others similarly situated, filed a class action lawsuit Nov. 12 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Bluestar Directional of Kingswood and Gregory Nazzal.
According to the complaint, Meyer and other measurement while drilling operators like him were required to work in excess of 12 hours a day, seven days a week, for weeks at a time in the oilfields. However, the defendants paid the plaintiff and his co-workers on a salary and daily bonus basis, never overtime, the suit states.
The FSLA says hours worked more 40 in a work week must be paid at time-and-a-half, the lawsuit states.
Meyer seeks unpaid back wages, costs of court, attorney fees and interest. He is represented by attorneys Jack Siegel of Siegel Law Group PLLC in Dallas and J. Derek Braziel and J. Forester of Lee & Braziel LLP in Dallas.
