Texas City law firm seeks to recover $11K from client

A Texas City law firm is suing a Dickinson woman for failure to pay $11,124.83 debt.

The Law Offices of Diana G. Bertini, in a lawsuit filed Nov. 18 in Galveston County Court at Law No. 3, explains that Jan Latimer contacted it on June 24, 2013, about representing her in ongoing guardianship proceedings in the Galveston County Probate Court for her mother, Wilma Jean Dennis.

Both parties subsequently entered into a contract on the same day, as well as a second agreement on July 10, 2013.

“The plaintiff fully explained the terms of retaining her to provide the legal services required by the defendant and the defendant agreed to pay the fees and expenses discussed to obtain the plaintiff’s representation in the guardianship of her mother was the subject of,” the complaint says. “The plaintiff has fully complied with the agreement reached by the parties.”

According to the complainant, the claim was timely presented to Latimer and remains unpaid.

The firm is representing itself.
