Auto accident with city of Galveston employee focus of complaint

Galveston County residents Candy Watkins and John C. McMurrin recently brought a lawsuit against the city of Galveston over an auto accident in early 2014.

The suit, filed Dec. 23 in the Galveston County 56th District Court, alleges the Jan. 30, 2014 accident was caused by Paul Leroy Wilson, an employee of the city.

According to court papers, the plaintiffs were traveling in a 2006 Dodge Durango along Sealy Avenue with Wilson operating a 2008 International sweeper in front of them.

“The defendant backed without safety striking the plaintiffs' vehicle,” the original petition says.

It further claims Wilson was on the clock for the respondent when the subject event occurred.

Consequently, the complainants seek unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

They are represented by attorney Jeffrey M. Stern of the law firm Stern Law Group in Bellaire.
