BEAUMONT— A couple is suing a Georgetown wedding venue, alleging failure to uphold its contract.
Brian Abney and Jennifer Abney Bell filed a lawsuit Dec. 31 in the Jefferson County District Court against Reunion Ranch in Georgetown, alleging breach of contract.
According to the complaint, Reunion Ranch agreed, as per the contract signed Sept. 22, 2014, that the plaintiffs would have use of the venue for 4 1/2 hours June 13, 2015, the plaintiffs' wedding day. However, despite the contract, the suit says Reunion Ranch failed to uphold the terms and informed the plaintiffs the venue had been overbooked.
The lawsuit states this created unnecessary stress for the plaintiffs who had to find a new venue.
Abney and Abney Bell seek $75,000 for damages suffered, legal fees and lost funds. They are represented by attorneys Cody A. Dishon and Paul F. Ferguson Jr. of The Ferguson Law Group LLC in Beaumont.
