Customer blames Ziegler's Foods for fall at store

GALVESTON — A customer is suing a Dickinson food market, alleging negligence after she slipped, fell and said she was injured, while shopping.

Sheila Porter of Dickinson filed a lawsuit Jan. 20 in the Galveston County District Court against Tracy Foods Inc, doing business as Ziegler's Foods, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint on June 13, case, Porter was a customer at Ziegler's Dickinson when encountered a liquid substance on the floor, which caused her to slip and land forcefully on the ground.

The suit states that due to the fall, she suffered severe and extensive injuries to her shoulder. Porter alleges it was the responsibility of the store to maintain safe conditions for the customers. The plaintiff alleges that she will continue to suffer from the injuries received.

Porter seeks damages of up to $1 million for mental anguish, physical pain, disfigurement, loss or reduction of earnings, medical and hospital services, and loss of abilities. She is represented by attorney Jeffrey N. Todd of The Law Firm of Alton C. Todd in Friendswood.
