BEAUMONT — A worker is suing a construction business, alleging negligence caused his injuries.

Raymond Smith filed a lawsuit Jan. 12 in the Jefferson County District Court against Maxim Crane Works LP, doing business as, ACR LP, and Danny Lynn Kyle, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on July 10, Smith and two co-workers were working to place a large lid on a compressor case while Kyle, an employee of Maxim Crane, operated the crane. While the plaintiff and his boss were on the lid the defendant lifted the load, without any warning, thus causing injuries to Smith.

Because of the injuries, the plaintiff sustained medical treatment, loss of wages and earning capacity, pain, suffering and mental anguish, plus physical impairment and disfigurement.

Smith seeks damages of more than $1 million, plus pre- and post-judgment interest. He is represented by attorneys Terry Bryant and Gregg Anderson of Terry Bryant PLLC in Houston.
