Graceland Rentals seeks collateral from Galveston County man

Collateral

GALVESTON – A Texas rental company is suing a Galveston County man over claims he defaulted on loan payments.

Graceland Rentals filed a lawsuit Jan. 27 in Galveston County District Court against J.T. Mauldin, also known as Joey Turner Mauldin, alleging breach of contract.

The suit states that on July 8, 2013, the two parties entered into a 60-month lease purchase agreement. The suit states Mauldin defaulted under the agreement by failing to pay monthly installments as they were due, resulting in a net unpaid balance of approximately $18,000 as of Dec. 29, 2015, plus interest.

The suit states Graceland Rentals is now entitled to possession of collateral and now sues for that possession.

Graceland Rentals seeks to recover the unpaid balance, plus interest and all lease payments that come due under the agreement until the date of judgment, as well as possession of the collateral under the agreement, attorney fees of at least $2,000 and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by attorney James W. King of Offerman & King in Beaumont.
