BROWNSVILLE — HCC Life Insurance Co. Inc. has filed suit against two businesses for alleged breach of contract.
The insurance company filed a complaint Mar. 7 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas against The Geo Group Inc. and Geo Corrections Holdings Inc., alleging that they wrongfully sought reimbursement for expenses not covered by their plan.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that HCC Life Insurance Co. Inc. suffered damages to its business when the company it insured tried to reimburse the total cost of medical expenses, which is not covered by the policy. The plaintiff holds The Geo Group Inc. and Geo Corrections Holdings Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly tried to reimburse medical expenses of one of their employee's dependent, which cost millions of dollars, an amount that clearly went over the total covered expenses allowed by the plan.
The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for all damages, all legal fees including interest and any other relief as the court deems just and proper. It is represented by Thomas E. Ganucheau, Bryon A. Rice and Jim Taylor of Beck Redden LLP in Houston in Texas.
