Three Beaumont residents blame city, water department for injuries

Car collision

BEAUMONT — Three individuals are suing Beaumont and its water district, alleging their negligence resulted in injuries to the plaintiffs.

Vanessa Coleman, Miyah Keller, Kiara Randle filed a complaint March 23, in the Jefferson County District Court against the city of Beaumont and the Beaumont Water District alleging the city department's employee wrongfully failed to control his vehicle causing injuries to others.

According to the complaint, on May 21, 2014, the three plaintiffs sustained injuries while travelling southbound on Langum Road when a car driven by Chad Jones collided with theirs. The plaintiffs allege Jones, who worked for the Beaumont Water District, failed to control his vehicle and failed to yield right-of-way, which resulted in a collision with the plaintiffs' vehicle.

The accident caused severe injuries to the three women and damage to their vehicle, the suit says.

Coleman, Keller and Randle request a trial by jury, all past and future medical expenses, loss of earnings, a judgment of $100,000 for each defendant, plus interest at the maximum legal rate, all legal fees and any other relief the court deems proper. They are represented by attorneys Jeff Musslewhite and Lori L. Brown of McDonald Worley PC in Houston.
