Woman files suit against man alleging he owes money used to purchase motorcycle

Late 07

GALVESTON – A woman has filed suit against a Hitchcock man alleging that he has not repaid her for money borrowed to purchase a motorcycle and other items.

Karen Clayton filed a complaint on March 30 in Galveston County District Court against Thomas D. Perry alleging that the defendant failed to repay debt owed to her.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between May 2012 and Feb. 21, 2013, she loaned money to the defendant for the purchase of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and she also purchased accessories for it with the defendant's assurance he would repay her. The plaintiff holds Thomas D. Perry responsible because the defendant allegedly promised to repay the total amount owed to plaintiff but failed to do so.

The plaintiff seeks damages amounting to $21,360.85 plus interest at the rate of 6 percent; monetary relief less than $100,000; $2,500 for legal services; $1,500 for post-judgment proceedings; $3,500 for proceedings before the court of appeals; $1,500 in the event either party files a petition for discretionary review; and additional $2,500 in the event a petition for discretionary review is granted by the Supreme Court of Texas; and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Robert E. Bastien of Tramonte, Tramonte & Bastien PC in Galveston.
