Employee blames electric supply business for injuries

BEAUMONT  — An employee is suing a Beaumont electrical supply business, alleging negligence led to him being injured. Electrical Specialties, Inc., a Texas corporation, citing alleged insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries and negligence.

Norman Powell filed a lawsuit April 8 in Jefferson County District Court against Electrical Specialties Inc., alleging the defendant's negligence led to the improper installation of a machine, which eventually caused injuries to the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, on March 25, 2015, Powell suffered injuries when a machine he was operating malfunctioned.. The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to properly inspect the machine during installation and, after installing, making sure it would not malfunction while being used normally.

The plaintiff says he sustained pain, suffering and mental anguish, plus loss of earning capacity.

Powell seeks a trial by jury, interest, exemplary damages, all legal fees and any other relief the court deems just. He is represented by attorneys Corey Kronzer and John Daspit of Daspit Law Firm in Houston.
