HOUSTON – A Brazos County woman alleges she was denied promotions and professional growth opportunities and was subject to gender discrimination during her employment at an investment firm.

Sherald Wood filed a complaint on April 15 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Crews & Associates Inc. and First Security Bancorp citing gender discrimination, sexual harassment, hostile work environment and retaliation.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she worked for the defendant Crews, a subsidiary of First Security, as an investment banker beginning in 2008. She alleges she experienced discrimination while being employed at the Bryan office and was wrongfully terminated when she complained about the treatment she was receiving.

The plaintiff holds Crews & Associates Inc. and First Security Bancorp responsible because the defendants allegedly did nothing to prevent the discrimination and harassment plaintiff experienced during her time with the company and opted to retaliate against her when she complained about the treatment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants; actual and liquidated damages including back pay; future income reimbursement for lost pension, insurance, other compensation and benefits; all damages; interest; all legal fees; and any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by Jakki A. Hansen of The Hansen Law Firm PC in Houston and Joseph Y. Ahmad of Ahmad, Zavitsanos, Anaipakos, Alavi & Mensing PC in Houston.
