Fannin County man accuses manufacturer of discrimination

SHERMAN — A Fannin County many is suing a Denison manufacturing business, alleging age discrimination caused him to be fired.

Daniel Weers filed a lawsuit May 11 in the Sherman Division of the Eastern District of Texas against ACS Manufacturing Inc. alleging age discrimination, discrimination and wrongful termination.

According to the complaint, Weers injured his right knee June 29, 2015, and on July 6, 2015, he was terminated, allegedly for using a banned drug as medication to ease the pain in his knee. 

The plaintiff alleges ACS Manufacturing, Inc. treated him differently compared to other employees who were caught using drugs while on the job and not terminated.

Weers seeks trial by jury, actual damages including back pay, front pay, plus interest at the highest rate allowed by the law, liquidated damages, all legal fees and any other relief the court deems just. He is represented by attorney Ronald R. Huff of Sherman.
