SHERMAN — Two parents and a student are suing the Denison school district, alleging a hostile work environment led to the student being attacked by a school employee during class.

Lisa Sexton and Brian Sexton, individually and as guardians for B.S. an incapacitated student, filed a complaint May 16 in the Sherman Division of the Eastern District of Texas against the Denison Independent School District alleging assault, a hostile work environment and negligence.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 17, 2015, B.S., sustained personal injuries as a result of being assaulted in class by a school district employee. The plaintiffs allege the district has the responsibility to provide a safe environment for B.S.

The suit says B.S. sustained physical pain, medical therapy and loss of educational opportunities.

The Sextons seek a trial by jury, actual and consequential damages, exemplary damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief the court deems just. They are represented by attorney Anthony O’Hanlon of Sherman.
