GALVESTON — A League City woman is suing NASA, alleging she was discriminated against based on race.

Johnnetta Punch filed a lawsuit May 17 in the Galveston Division of the Southern District of Texas against the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), NASA Administrator Charles F. Bolden Jr. and Ellen Ochoa, director of NASA's Johnson Space Center, alleging racial discrimination and retaliation.

According to the complaint, between December 2006 and her termination on Aug. 6, 2013, Punch, a 58-year-old black woman, experienced discrimination and harassment during her employment. The plaintiff alleges the defendants retaliated against her when she complained about the discrimination she experienced.

Punch seeks trial by jury, back pay plus interest, front pay, compensatory damages, all legal fees and any other relief the court deems just. She is represented by attorneys Ballari Mukherjee and Bruce A. Coane of Coane and Associates PLLC in Houston.
