GALVESTON — A tenant is suing the owners of a Galveston apartment complex, alleging insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries.

Kerry Hegefeld filed a lawsuit May 12 in Galveston County District Court against Mosaic Residential Inc., alleging negligence in failing to keep the property safe.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 5, 2015, Hegefeld sustained serious injuries as a result of slipping while walking into the laundry room at Oceanfront Loft Apartments in Galveston. The plaintiff alleges Mosaic Residential failed to maintain and make sure its property was safe and free from hazards that could cause injuries to its tenants.

The suit says the plaintiff suffered physical pain, mental anguish, disfigurement, loss of earnings and loss of enjoyment of life.

Hegefeld seeks more than $1 million, interest and any other relief the court deems just. He is represented by attorney David Aziel Garcia of Law Offices of David Aziel Garcia in Houston.
