City of Dickinson files suit after police vehicle was allegedly damaged in crash

GALVESTON – A Galveston County driver's negligence caused damage to a law enforcement vehicle, a suit states.

The city of Dickinson, Texas, by and through Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Risk Pool as subrogee, filed a complaint on May 23 in the Galveston County District Court against Alex Esparza Jr. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 29, 2014, a police vehicle owned by the plaintiff was damaged in an accident with the defendant. The plaintiff holds Alex Esparza Jr. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to yield to right of way while driving without license.

The plaintiff seeks property damage in the amount of $22,977.08 plus interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Charles “Bo” Joseph, Jennifer O’Sullivan and Brittani S. Miller of Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Risk Pool Subrogation Department in Austin.
