HOUSTON – A Lake Jackson woman alleges she was discriminated against, threatened and terminated for reporting sexual harassment in the workplace.
Kristin Lee Dial filed a complaint in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Shell Deer Park Refining Co. alleging sexual harassment and retaliation.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff had a brief relationship with co-worker Christopher Carrizales outside of the workplace. The plaintiff alleges that during her employment from August 2014 and December 2014, she experienced sexual harassment from Carrizales after the relationship ended. She alleges that she reported the conduct to Team Lead Benjamin Stafford and was told if she reported the harassment to human resources, she and Carrizales would both lose their jobs. The suit states Stafford then began making sexual advances toward her. The suit states that she ultimately was terminated for reasons she disputes in December 2014.
The plaintiff holds Shell Deer Park Refining Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly did nothing to prevent plaintiff from being sexually harassed by her co-workers and eventually terminated her for complaining about the treatment she'd experienced.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks permanent injunction enjoining the defendant, all damages, back pay, reinstatement, front pay, benefits, compensatory damages, punitive damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Katrina S. Patrick of Law Offices of Katrina Patrick in Houston.
