HOUSTON — A Houston woman is suing her former employers, alleging she was subjected to a hostile work environment.

Velicia Walker filed a lawsuit July 27, in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Majesty Staffing LLC, Sodexo Inc. and Memorial Hermann Health System, doing business as Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, alleging they violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, Walker, who worked as a prep chef, was subjected to sexual harassment that included unwanted sexual advances, a hostile and offensive work environment, discrimination, retaliation and and termination Nov. 10, 2014, which caused her to suffer severe emotional distress and physical injuries. 

The plaintiff alleges the defendants deprived her of equal employment opportunities, subjected her to adverse employment actions and failed to protect her from further harassment.

Walker seeks a trial by jury, compensatory damages, permanent injunction enjoining defendants from practicing discrimination and retaliation, attorney fees, costs of court and such other relief to which she is be entitled. She is represented by attorney Katrina Patrick of Houston.
