GALVESTON — A Wharton County man is suing a vessel operator, alleging its negligence led to the plaintiff suffering injuries.

Nha Nguyen filed a lawsuit July 27 in Galveston County District Court against Hoang Tien M/V Capt. Daniel II, alleging the breach of duty in failing to furnish the plaintiff a safe place to work and failure to provide a seaworthy vessel.

According to the complaint, on July 2, Nguyen was injured while working on the cabin of Captain Daniel II when he fell from the cabin onto the deck. The suit says the fall caused him severe and disabling injuries that resulted in medical expenses, physical pain, mental anguish and lost wages.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to take reasonable precautions for Nguyen's safety and ordered him to perform work while not taking reasonable precautions to avoid injury.

Nguyen seeks a trial by jury, monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, pre- and post-judgment interest and all other relief to which he is entitled. He is represented by attorneys Richard J. Plezia and Sana Abid of Richard J. Plezia & Associates in Houston.
