Storage facility alleges Harris County business owes more than $100,000

Contract 09

HOUSTON — A Houston storage facility is suing a Harris County company, alleging it owes more than $100,000 for breach of contract.

Cooper/T. Smith Stevedoring Company, doing business as CT Stevedoring Inc., filed a lawsuit July 30 in Harris County District Court against Transproject, doing business as Transgroup Worldwide Logistics, alleging failure to comply with the terms of their storage agreement.

According to the complaint, from January-July 2016, CT Stevedoring suffered monetary damages for not receiving storage payments for the defendants' wind turbine parts that remained in its facility in the amount of $81,268.60, plus costs for moving the defendants' wind turbine parts to plaintiff's new facility at a cost of $71,920.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant ceased paying its monthly storage charges even though its storage agreement remains in full force and effect. The suit says Transgroup has refused to pay charges for moving its cargoes to the plaintiff's new facility.

CT Stevedoring seeks a trial by jury, monetary relief between $100,000 and $153,188.60, pre-judgment interest, attorney fees and costs, post-judgment interest and all relief to which it is justly entitled. It is represented by attorney James R. Koecher of Brown Sims in Houston.
